eink-qemu

An emulator for ESP32 e-ink readers: the Xteink X4 Pro, X3 and X4, and the BOOX Picco. It runs their unmodified firmware, stock or any fork, with the screen, SD card, keys and Wi-Fi behaving like the real board. This app runs native QEMU.Everything runs here in your browser.

Built on QEMU. Started as a fork of prokrypt/x4prosim. Runs in the browser on Kohei Tokunaga's qemu-wasm JIT.

Choose firmware to begin

Pick an ESP32-C3 or ESP32-S3 firmware: an app .bin (it goes into the Arduino-ESP32 16 MB partition table), a merged .bin, a 16 MiB flash dump, or an official X4 Pro .xota update. For example, crosspoint-<ver>-x3-x4.bin or -x4pro.bin from the CrossPoint Reader releases. New firmware defaults to X3 for C3 and X4 Pro for S3. An x4 filename token without x3 selects X4; picco selects Picco on S3. Change the device in the firmware card. Drop the file here or choose it; loading it starts the emulator.

The SD card is an image file on disk. A blank 16 GiB FAT32 card is created on first run; it takes a few MiB until files are written.

Your SD card is saved in this browser. On your first visit a blank 64 MiB FAT32 card is used.
